The University of Ljubljana, as a member of the EUTOPIA Alliance, which consists of ten universities, is announcing a Call for Student Individual Research Projects (SIRP) within the EUTOPIA Alliance with financial incentives for mobility for the 2025/2026 academic year. The purpose of the call is to (co-)finance the preparation of individual student research projects, which also includes a mobility component at one of the universities that make up the EUTOPIA Alliance.

In addition to preparation, which includes a component of student research work with two mentors (review, analysis, and comparison of literature, review of methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches, work on a seminar, thesis or article, etc.), the project proposal must also include a proposal for mobility at a host university at one of the members of the EUTOPIA Association (added value of visiting the proposed university, visits to libraries and laboratories/research groups, and other activities that support the international student project), with the exception of the University of Warwick, as, in accordance with the financial rules governing the allocation of funds for financial incentives, mobility to the United Kingdom is not an eligible expense.
One of the special features of the call is the possibility of funding virtual mobility, which is available to students with special status.
How to apply
The basic requirement for applying for the call is valid student status at the University of Ljubljana, and students must be enrolled in the first or second cycle of study programs at the time of application and during the implementation of the project.
Students at their home institution (UL) must find a mentor who has a valid habilitation title and a mentor at a host university that is a member of the EUTOPIA Association. Together with the mentors, they prepare a project plan, which is part of the application for the call. The plan must include a mobility component, which must be at least 7 days and no more than 30 days long.
Only students who have not yet participated in EUTOPIA Association mobility programs are eligible to apply for the call.
Applications are collected via an online form on the POPR portal, which you can access with your UL digital identity. The following must be attached to the application form:
- when applying: plan for the project and mobility ("Obrazec 1" is in English);
- after completing the project concluding report ("Obrazec 2" is in English).
Students should complete the form in English together with their mentors.
Applications are open until funds are exhausted or until July 28, 2026, at the latest. Mobility must be completed by September 30, 2026.
