Through this call, we wish to select eight students from the University of Ljubljana to take part in the EUTOPIA ‘Innovation Challenges for Students’ event, which will take place between 9 and 12 November at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (Italy), a partner within the EUTOPIA Alliance. At the event, students will explore challenges related to cultural heritage, covering topics such as community engagement and inclusion strategies, the preservation of craft heritage and innovation in materials, the exploration of concepts of sustainability and the circular economy, and the integration of the local economy, history and innovative public experiences.

Opportunities for students, EUTOPIA

The event is open to first- or second-cycle students from all fields of study who are duly enrolled at the University of Ljubljana. No prior knowledge of the subject area or experience is required. However, it is desirable that students express an interest in the topic under discussion in their application.

Selected students must hold the status mentioned above at the time of application and when the event takes place. Students must notify their home institution in good time of any changes to their status.

Application procedure

Students should submit their application, comprising:

  • a brief CV,
  • a cover letter,
  • proof of student status, and
  • a signed consent form for the processing and publication of photographs and video footage (Annex 1 of this call for applications)

to the email address eutopia.student@uni-lj.si with the subject line “Innovation Challenge for Students Call for Applications” by 24 September, 23:59.

Students will be notified of the selection on 28 September, and the deadline for confirming attendance is 29 September 2026, by 2.00 pm.

About the event

The event is based on the ‘Open Innovation Challenge’, developed as part of the EUTOPIA2050 pilot project (Erasmus+, European Universities), which was designed to improve collaboration with local and regional businesses. ICS, which operates within the framework of the EUTOPA MORE project (Erasmus+, European Universities), is committed to fostering and enhancing broader forms of local and regional cooperation through partnerships and challenge-based initiatives.
