Position: University teacher (M/F) at Department of Musicology

Status: part-time, 20 hours per week

Type of contract: permanent

 

Conditions for the position:

  • required education/level and field: doctoral degree (PhD) in the field of ethnomusicology;
  • academic title of Professor (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor) in the field of ethnomusicology or an academic title of another institution, under the condition that this title can be recognized by the University of Ljubljana; or the title of guest professor at the University of Ljubljana; or the fulfilment of the conditions for obtaining the ‘’habilitation’’ of university teacher (Assistant, Associate Professor, or Full Professor) in the field of ethnomusicology. In this case, together with the application, it is necessary to submit proofs of compliance with the quantitative and qualitative Criteria for the election to the academic title or for recognition of the title in accordance with the Criteria. The candidate must also enclose a statement that he/she agrees that in the event of a positive decision of the selection board, his/her application is also considered as an application for his/her election to the title or for recognition of the title. The title must be obtained before the signing of the employment contract;
  • knowledge of Slovene on B2 level. If the chosen candidate does not fulfil this condition when he/she starts the job, he/she must fulfil it within 3 years after the employment;
  • rhetorical skills, innovativeness, ability to organize one’s own work.

 

Desirable additional competences:

  • experience in teaching courses in music anthropology and world music at the university level,
  • extensive research experience and in-depth expertise in Slovenian traditional music,
  • substantial academic experience and research in the field of popular music studies,
    practical experience in conducting ethnomusicological fieldwork,
  • ability to direct and coordinate an ethnomusicological ensemble.

 

Position description:

  • forming and updating the syllabi and adjusting university and higher education programmes according to the requirements;
  • organizing and co-organizing all activities for the realization of the course in accordance with the syllabi and expert findings; coordination of work and supervising other teachers (assistants, technical and other co-workers) of the same course;
  • teaching, i.e. lecturing, managing seminars and other pedagogical activities of the course at undergraduate and post-graduate levels,
  • managing, evaluating and correcting exams and tests;
  • participation in other activities related to pedagogical work in the field of profession (nostrification);
  • scientific research, study and development of concepts, theories and methods;
  • taking care of the safety and health at work for the staff and students of the unit; of the appropriate education and training of persons coming into contact with dangerous substances; of the use of personal protective equipment and other safety measures;
  • performing other tasks that are substantively part of the broader professional field of the job.

 

Position starting date: 1. 10. 2025

The basic salary for the post of University Teacher - Assistant Professor (post code: D019008) is set at grade 35 (which in value terms means EUR 3 425,54 gross, taking into account the phasing-out of disproportionality by 2028).

The basic salary for the post of University Teacher - Associate Professor (DM code: D019007) is set at grade 39 (which in value terms means EUR 3 855,47 gross, taking into account the phasing-out of disproportionality by 2028).

The basic salary for the post of University Teacher - Full Professor (post code: D019006) is set at grade 44 (which in value terms means EUR 4 469.55 gross, taking into account the phasing-out of disproportionality by 2028).
