CONDITIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Required education (level and area):

• Doctorate (PhD – previous system), or
• Doctorate (3rd Bologna cycle) in the field of humanities and social sciences – sociology of culture
• valid habilitation title: Assistant Professor in the field of Sociology of Education
• desirable work experience in teaching courses in the field of sociology of education, experience in sociological research in the field of education, direct teaching experience, and desirable experience in leading research projects
• the candidate meets the requirement if they hold a valid title at the University of Ljubljana (UL), or a valid title from another institution that can be recognized at UL through the recognition procedure, or a valid visiting lecturer title at UL, or if they meet the minimum quantitative and qualitative requirements for election to a title in accordance with the UL Statute and the Criteria for Election to the Titles of Higher Education Teachers, Scientific Workers and Associates at the University of Ljubljana for obtaining a higher education teaching title (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor). If, at the time of application, the candidate does not hold the above-mentioned title but meets the quantitative and qualitative requirements for election to such a title, they may apply for the position, in which case they must submit evidence of meeting the stated criteria together with their application and include a statement agreeing that, in the event of a decision by the selection committee, the application shall also be considered as an application for election to the title or for recognition of equivalence of the title
• active knowledge of English and knowledge of the Slovenian language at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). If the selected candidate does not meet this requirement at the time of appointment, they must fulfil it no later than three years after employment

• rhetorical skills, innovativeness, and a sense of organizing one’s own work and the work of colleagues

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• designing and updating curricula and adapting higher education professional study programmes to requirements
• organizing or co-organizing all activities for the implementation of a course in accordance with the curriculum and current developments in the field, as well as coordinating and supervising the work of other course instructors (assistants, technical and other staff)
• delivering lectures to students, conducting seminars, and performing other teaching activities within the course
• grading, assessing, and correcting examination papers and tests
• mentoring students in the preparation of diploma theses and other academic work,
• participating in other activities related to teaching work in the professional field (recognition procedures, etc.)
• conducting scientific research work, studying and developing concepts, theories, and methods
• ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for employees and students of the unit, providing appropriate training and instruction for persons coming into contact with hazardous substances, and ensuring the use of personal protective equipment and other safety measures
• supervising research work and study activities of students, and mentoring students in the preparation of diploma theses and other academic work
• conducting scientific research work, studying and developing concepts, theories, and methods
• participating in other activities related to pedagogical or scientific research work in the field (e.g. recognition procedures, expert assessments, etc.)
• performing other tasks as assigned by the dean, vice-deans, or head of department that fall within the broader professional scope of the position
• knowledge of computer programs – SPSS, MAXQDA
• experience in qualitative and quantitative research

4.  JOB STARTING DATE: full-time (40 hours/week) for indefinite time, presumably from October 1 ^st, 2026 at the  Department for basic pedagogical studies-TPŠ UL PEF or upon receipt of the consent of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation (MVZI) to the 2026 Programme.
