Senior Research Associate – GreenHer Head of Research Core for Sustainable Landscapes and Sites (m/f)

Requirements for the position:

  • Required education: doctoral degree (pre-Bologna) in a relevant field or PhD (third Bologna cycle) in a relevant field
  • Valid habilitation title: Senior Research Associate or Associate Professor
  • Knowledge of English
  • Work experience: not required; preferably:
  • 3 years in research and innovation activities,
  • experience in managing research and innovation activities,
  • experience in acquiring research projects

 

Job description

General description:

  • scientific research work,
  • organisation, coordination, planning and monitoring of research activities (within a research group),
  • linking research activities with other research institutions,
  • participation in the development of research programmes and involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching,
  • monitoring open calls, applying for calls, informing superiors and participating in/preparing applications,
  • professional cooperation with clients commissioning research tasks,
  • preparation of reports and research documentation,
  • ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for employees and students, including appropriate training and awareness regarding hazardous substances, use of personal protective equipment and other safety measures,
  • performing other tasks within the broader professional scope of the position.

 

Detailed description

  • The Head of the Research Core leads research in the field of heritage landscapes and sites, including archaeological research, studies of wooden heritage, monitoring and observation of heritage from the air and ground, research on the impacts of climate change on landscapes and sites, research within living labs (including intangible heritage), as well as research on sustainable heritage management and the development of heritage tourism products.
  • The Head of the Research Core is responsible for developing a comprehensive portfolio of research projects through implementing, developing and supervising research in their area, including the Centre’s pilot projects, and for leading researchers working within the Research Core.
  • The Head of the Research Core is a member of the Centre Management Board, participates in its meetings and assists in implementing decisions of the Centre’s Governing Board. The Head works closely with the Central Office, Co-Heads, heads of other Research Cores, and the Centre’s research and innovation office.
  • The Head of the Research Core reports to the Head of the Centre.
  • The Head leads the development and evaluation of the Research Core’s work through biennial plans and reports.
  • The Head significantly contributes to:
  • preparation and revision of the research and innovation strategy,
  • preparation of annual plans and reports,
  • preparation and revision of data management plans,
  • preparation and revision of intellectual property management policy,
  • preparation and revision of knowledge transfer and education strategy,
  • preparation and revision of the Centre’s research ethics policy and protocols,
  • preparation and revision of risk management plans,
  • preparation and revision of dissemination, exploitation and communication activities (DEC).
  • The Head assumes the role of WP5 leader “Pilot Projects” within the GreenHer project, including all responsibilities associated with this role.
  • The Head performs all other duties required by the laws and regulations of the University of Ljubljana.
  • In addition to explicitly defined responsibilities, the Head performs all tasks, obligations and functions assigned or delegated by the Head of the Centre. These may include operational, administrative, managerial or strategic tasks necessary for the effective functioning of the Centre.
