Publishing activity at the University of Ljubljana dates back to its foundation. Since 2020, the University of Ljubljana Press (ULP), a joint organisational unit, has been operating within at the Rectorate of the University of Ljubljana. The University of Ljubljana Press integrates the publishing activities of the UL member institutions. The basis for the activities is the publishing activities of the 26 faculties and academies of the UL, which enables us to cover all scientific disciplines and thus develop a diverse and high-quality scientific publishing programme. With around 200 new titles per year, University of Ljubljana Press is one of the largest academic publishers in Slovenia and Central Europe, making an important contribution to the visibility of the University of Ljubljana as a key academic institution in Slovenia and the region.

The University of Ljubljana publishes 56 international scientific journals. All journals are open access. Most editorial boards follow the open access diamond model, i.e. immediate free access to scientific papers without payment of publication costs - i.e. publication is free of charge for the authors or their institutions. University of Ljubljana Press operates a web portal, UL Press Journals, on which 30 of 56 scientific journals can currently be found. More than 12,500 articles have been published on the portal.

UL Press E-Books

In the spirit of open science, the University of Ljubljana Press has also developed the UL Press E-Books. Portal More than 500 open access monographs are published on this portal in PDF format, some of them also in ePub format.
