We invite you to participate in a practice-oriented online course (hereinafter referred to as a microMOOC), in which you will analyze a selected task or learning activity, test it using a generative AI tool, and thoughtfully redesign it. The focus here will not be on how to prevent or detect the use of AI, but rather on how to design the task so that it supports learning objectives, requires appropriate evidence of learning, and clearly communicates to students what use of AI is permitted, expected, or prohibited.

Why join?

The widespread use of generative artificial intelligence requires more than just technical knowledge of the new tools. It requires a thoughtful pedagogical response, clear rules, adapted assessment criteria, and tasks that allow us to recognise not only the quality of the final product, but also the process and actual evidence of learning.

The MicroMOOC will guide you step by step from understanding the impact of generative AI on higher education teaching to the practical redesign of your assignment or learning activity.

What will you gain?

As part of this microMOOC, you will:

  • learn about the key changes that generative AI is bringing to the areas of coursework, assessment, academic integrity and AI literacy;
  • analyse a selected task using five diagnostic questions and identify its most critical aspects;
  • carry out a safe and responsible ‘stress test’ of the assignment using guided prompts;
  • distinguish between the quality of the final product and evidence of learning;
  • determine which process-based, contextual or other forms of evidence of learning you wish to retain or strengthen;
  • rewrite the task instructions and adapt the assessment criteria;
  • formulate clear regulations for the use of digital tools that is understandable to students, and which is linked to learning objectives and assessment;
  • also consider an alternative route for students who are unable or unwilling to use digital tools.

By the end, you will have a concrete outcome: a revised assignment or learning activity, updated assessment criteria, and clearly defined guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence for the selected assignment.

Who is the microMOOC for?

MicroMOOC is for higher education lecturers and staff, as well as other professionals involved in planning teaching, learning activities and assessment.

You do not need advanced knowledge of generative artificial intelligence tools to take part. However, we recommend that you select one of your existing tasks or learning activities that you would like to analyse and redesign during the workshop.
