Summer school for students - Space science and technology: challenges in space and on earth

During the summer school for prospective students, on Saturday, August 31, the participants visited Planica to know the Nordic Center in Planica up close, and they also got to know the new interdisciplinary, international master's study program Space Medicine (SpaceMed), which will be held in Slovenia in the future winter, III. semester of master's studies, performed for the first time.
Experts in the fields of psychiatry and ophthalmology, who are also involved in the new discipline of space medicine, were also participate in the presentation of the master's study program Space Medicine (SpaceMed). The new student interdisciplinary research project SpaceDent was also presented, which enabled students of dental medicine, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering of the University of Ljubljana to research micro- and hyper-gravity. During parabolic flights, students in Bordeaux, France, performed dental procedures in simulated weightlessness at the end of last year, with the aim of determining whether the ability to handle dental instruments in microgravity is sufficiently controlled for safe dental treatment of astronauts.
On Saturday, September 7, the summer school for prospective students, took place at the rectory, at the seat of the University of Ljubljana. The colleagues of the higher education application and information service (VPIS), who take care of the higher education application and admission process at the University of Ljubljana, had again this year prepared a day for final year students to reflect on their study wishes and career opportunities, and above all to present the University's study programs in Ljubljana. Students were be able to participate in workshops, lectures, take part in personal counselling, calculate the expected number of points to be achieved for enrolment in the desired study programs and fill out Holland's interest questionnaire.
