UL Senate appoints the Electoral Commission for the election of the Rector

On Tuesday, 21 January 2025, the Senate of the University of Ljubljana (UL), at its 34th regular session, adopted a decision on initiating the election process for the Rector of UL for the 2025–2029 term.
To oversee the election process, the UL Senate appointed the following Election Commission:
- Assistant Prof. Dr Aleš Novak, Chair
- Associate Prof. Dr Gregor Dugar, Deputy Chair
- Mihaela Bauman Podojsteršek, Member
- Katja Višnjevec Vahčič, Deputy Member
- Miha Kosec, student, Member
- Fazli Gashi, student, Deputy Member
The UL Senate appointed Alenka Golobič, Assistant to the Secretary General for Legal Affairs, Documentation and Archives, as Secretary of the Electoral Commission, and Teja Velkavrh, Head of Corporate and Property Law Department, as Deputy Secretary of the Electoral Commission.
The UL member senates must submit their reasoned nominations for Rector, along with the signed consents of the candidates, to the UL Electoral Commission no later than 12 noon on Thursday, 20 February 2025. Proposals should be sent via email to rektorat@uni-lj.si. If a proposal is locked with a password, the password must be sent separately to volitve@uni-lj.si within the same deadline.
The Rector election will take place at the University level on Wednesday, 2 April 2025. If necessary, a second round will be held on 16 April 2025.
Additionally, the UL Senate approved the Annual Work Plan of the University, which forms part of the University of Ljubljana Annual Work Programme for 2025.
