About the programme

The students acquire the competences of an intelectual educated in humanities, and specific competences which open their path towards understanding of both general and specific questions in theoretical and applied linguistics.

On the theoretical side, they are acquainted with the history of linguistics, main linguistic schools of thought, and with Slovene contributions to the linguistic theory. On the applied side, they can form opinions regarding the language policy on the majority and minority language communities, and regarding the issues of Slovene minorities abroad; they understand the relations and issues which appear in the relation human–language, and remove or smoothen out any potential conflicts.
