About the programme

The fundamental goals of the second-level study programme Pedagogy relate to the areas of work performed by the pedagogue as an expert in upbringing and education.

Students upgrade and deepen their knowledge in the field of educational sciences. They acquire knowledge about scientific paradigms and theories, which is important for the understanding, analysis and critical evaluation of educational processes and for understanding the connection between pedagogical phenomena, processes and society. They are trained to co-design system solutions, develop educational programmes and curricular materials in the field of education and training, as well as to assume leadership positions in education and other social activities (e.g. in the field of culture, social work). They are educated for independent (special) pedagogical (school, personal, professional, career) counseling for children/teenagers, parents, professionals in the field of upbringing, education, teaching and learning in educational institutions and in other public and private institutions/organizations. They acquire knowledge and skills for solving practical problems in the field of planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of educational processes in different contexts and at different levels of education. Likewise, the acquire knowledge for the management of voluntary work organizations, societies, projects and programmes in the field of culture, free time, etc.

During their studies, they develop the ability to cooperate, work in groups and work independently in a team. They are distinguished by an understanding of the procedures of argumentation and verification of scientific theories, as well as critical and holistic thinking in an interdisciplinary and ethical manner.

The candidates have to provide evidence of Slovenian language skills proficiency at level B2 of Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
