About the programme
The primary goal of the five-year Master's degree program in Law is to train legal professionals who, upon graduation, will be qualified to practice in any legal profession that does not require a state examination. Additionally, graduates will be well-prepared to further their knowledge to pass the State Examination in Law (bar exam), necessary for specific roles such as judge, public prosecutor, or lawyer.
By the end of their studies, Master of Laws graduates will have acquired a deep and comprehensive understanding of various areas of law, including comparative and international law. With a broad perspective rooted in social sciences and the humanities, along with specialized knowledge of substantive and procedural law, and expertise in legal reasoning, they will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a legal team. Furthermore, they will be well-equipped to interpret and apply the law accurately in a wide range of legal situations and relationships.
In the first year, the focus is on general and introductory legal subjects, which are integrated with topics from the social sciences and humanities. At the same time, students gain a thorough understanding of constitutional law, exploring the Constitution as the foundation and framework of the legal system.
In the second year, attention shifts to criminal law and certain areas of civil law. The third year emphasizes civil law, labour law, social security law, and European Union law. The fourth year is primarily dedicated to public administration, administrative law, and international law.
In the fifth and final year, alongside other subjects, there is a strong emphasis on the philosophy and methodology of law, which reinforces the importance of legal values and enhances students' legal reasoning skills. Throughout the program, students are also required to study economics and finance, as well as take a range of optional subjects.
The faculty provides training in foreign legal terminology, and students gain practical experience through various activities such as guest lectures from practitioners, legal clinics, international student competitions, and research projects. The program concludes with the defense of a Master's thesis.
