About the programme

The main goal of the Museum Education study programme is to prepare students for independent, professional, and ethically reflective educational work in museums, galleries, and similar institutions. These include botanical and zoological gardens, exhibition galleries in libraries and archives, as well as organizations involved in permanent conservation, etc.

The study programme provides a deep understanding and appreciation of the educational significance of culture and its heritage, contributing to the facilitation of educational activities within museum institutions. This helps address the diverse requirements of museum visitors at the individual, group, and community levels.

A deeper comprehension and advocacy for the educational importance of cultural (and natural) heritage will enhance educational efforts in museums, complementing other educational approaches. Developing research skills in museum education will empower graduates to    critically analyse museum education theory and practices, including their own, thereby enhancing the museum education quality based on this critical analysis.

The practical goal of this study programme is to promote active, integrative, and sustainable development through independent and group-based educational work in museums, galleries, archives, libraries, and other sites of cultural and natural heritage.
