About the programme
The academic bachelor study programme Social work is designed to train experts with special theoretic and methodological knowledge to empower people to solve their complex life problems and address their needs.
A graduate social worker intervenes with the life of people in their social context. Together they seek solutions and alternatives. By institutional means and in a creative way by exploring inherent options, social workers help people live as independently as possible. They offer human support and professional help for overcoming adversities deriving from economical or personal reasons or from natural or human-made disasters that threaten the welfare of people. In particular, they aim to empower the people who face exclusion from social life, the spheres of labour, etc.
Social work uses methods that enable interventions at all levels (the individual, family, work group, neighbourhood, local community). Social workers are not only employed in the field of social care, but any place people work and live –in local communities, in education, child care, medical care, court penal systems, in employment agencies, voluntary organisations and elsewhere.
