Faculty of Social Work

Social work deals with an extremely wide range of people experiencing a variety of social, mental, economic, health and other hardships. It is embedded in a wide range of public services, but also works in voluntary and private organisations, social services, education, health, justice, police, government and industry. It draws on a variety of traditions and uses a wide range of methods - from counselling and therapy, group and community work, social skills training to individual planning.

Social work addresses these areas from the perspective of social justice, of reducing the harmful effects of social transformations, of people's everyday circumstances and needs, as well as from the perspective of global processes and structural change. By developing and disseminating the theoretical concepts, models and methods of social work in the educational process and in social work practice, the Faculty contributes to fundamental social values and objectives such as ensuring the quality of life of individuals, families and population groups, social justice, dignity and equal opportunities, solidarity and social integration, and the prevention of poverty and social exclusion.
