UL Rector's Award

Innovators can apply in the following three categories:

1. Category for students, alumni, and alumnae of the University of Ljubljana (up to two years after completing your studies).
2. Category for full-time researchers at the University of Ljubljana (innovations owned by the University of Ljubljana or at least 50% owned if two co-owners are involved, or at least 30% owned if the innovation is co-owned by three or more organizations).
3. Category for undergraduate and graduate students - HUD (SSHA) call (students can participate with ideas, solutions, and innovations for societal challenges).

Members of research groups can also be employed at other institutions or students from other universities, but in this case, the group leader must meet the above conditions.

• Prize fund: the prize fund this year is 18.000 € (6.000 € per category).You will compete in one of three categories (1st category: female and male students, alumni and alumnae; 2nd category: researchers and full-time employees of the University of Ljubljana; 3rd category: female and male students of 1st and 2nd level.)

The Rector of the University of Ljubljana will award the winner of each category with 3.000 euros, the second-place winner with 2.000 euros, and the third-place winner with 1.000 euros.

• Preparatory Workshops: We will also conduct workshops on business idea development, intellectual property protection, presentation skills, and pitching your idea to the jury. This will provide you with valuable advice for a successful start to your entrepreneurial journey.
• Assessment of Commercial Potential: The top performers will have the opportunity to enter the LUI program, where we will assist you in securing financial resources.

1. Submit your innovation or entrepreneurial idea.
2. Participate in preparatory workshops.
3. Present your idea to a professional jury, representatives from the business sector, and the academic community in 3 minutes.
4. Continue your entrepreneurial journey at LUI, where we will assist you in successfully entering the market, and connect with the Knowledge Transfer Office of UL to help you commercialize your innovation.
