The alumni mentoring system of the University of Ljubljana connects UL alumni - experts in various fields - with students and young alumni who are at the beginning of their careers. The system offers you direct access to experts from the field who can help you with your thesis or, if you have already completed your studies, with the first steps on your career path. There is currently an alumni mentoring programme for students and we plan to expand the mentoring system in the future.

Mentoring programme Alumni for students

In 2024, we will continue with a new cycle of the mentoring programme Alumni for students. The mentoring programme enables UL students to get to know different professions and then helps them decide which career path they would like to take.

At the heart of the project is job shadowing - alumni provide students with access to their work environment for a day so that students can learn about their work, which can help them in their future career decisions.

Job shadowing is a method in which an individual shadows an experienced employee and gains important information about the work process through observation. The individual quickly and easily forms an opinion about the job, learns about the work process and the skills and competences required.

Mentoring can take place physically or virtually and is usually limited to 8 hours (but can also be split over two or more days). Both the mentor and the mentee are connected via the mentoring programme on our AlumniUL platform. There they can also track all the milestones they need to achieve and find all the necessary guidance to make the mentoring experience quick and easy.

If you would like to take part in mentoring programme, send us an email at alumni@uni-lj.si.
