A new generation of students from Ukraine successfully completes a course in Slovene at the University of Ljubljana

Students of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts from the Slavic Studies department offered free help in the form of Slovenian language lessons, socialising, support and getting to know life in Ljubljana:

Slovenian was taught by the following students of the UL Faculty of Arts:

  • Petra Ahčin
  • Hana Bevk
  • Jerneja Čerenak
  • Filip Mašera Lisjak
  • Ines Tobias

Students were coordinated by Urša Glušič and Jure Miholič.

For students who already have some knowledge of Slovene, informal meetings were offered to help them overcome the discomfort of communicating in Slovene and strengthen their ability to express themselves in conversation.

For beginners, they organised a basic course in Slovenian. Through informal get-togethers, they wanted to help Ukrainian students to communicate more easily in Slovenian with their colleagues and teachers. The course took place in the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year.

The students' voluntary commitment shows that the University of Ljubljana is committed to intergenerational solidarity and the integration of international students into our shared learning and cultural environment.
