The Parus Foundation was established in 2006 with the aim of providing scholarships for the postgraduate studies of the most talented graduates of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana at prestigious foreign universities and for doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana. The Foundation was founded by the prominent Slovenian lawyer Miro Senica. The founfations work is also of great importance for the Slovenian legal system, as it encourages scholarship recipients to return and work in their home country.
The scholarship is awarded once a year, with the number of scholarships awarded being determined by a committee. The Foundation covers the full cost of tuition fees and also provides a monthly living allowance.
In 2016, the Parus Foundation received the "Pro universitate labacensi" award, which is given at the University of Ljubljana to natural and legal persons who have made a significant contribution to the development of the University's material possibilities or to the training of its staff through their resources or work.
Who can apply?
The most successful graduates of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana are eligible to apply, both for postgraduate studies at their home faculty and for studies at the world's most prestigious universities, including Harvard and Yale.
In addition to an excellent academic record and a top grade in their thesis, applicants must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to handle complex situations, coordinate parallel projects and manage a team of colleagues. A thorough knowledge of at least two world languages is also required.
