As a research-intensive institution, the UL makes an important contribution to the development of new knowledge that supports efforts towards the sustainable transformation of society, and to promoting and strengthening the relevance of scientific and artistic creativity to achieve this goal. The UL is involved in a range of national and international projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their results.

Overview of the UL's scientific publications by the SDGs (2020-2024)

The analysis of scientific publications published by UL researchers during the period from 2020 to 2024 shows that most publications address topics related to SDG 3 (Good health and well-being). The five most frequently addressed SDGs in the UL scientific publications also include those addressing specific challenges under SDGs 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), 7 (Affordable and clean energy), 4 (Quality education),  and 12 (Responsible consumption and production).
