Commitment to an open, inclusive and safe academic community

To mark Pride Month, the Rectorate of the University of Ljubljana is flying the rainbow flag as an expression of support for the LGBTIQ+ community and as a reaffirmation of our commitment to equality, respect for human rights and diversity within the academic environment.
The University of Ljubljana strives to provide an academic environment that is safe, supportive and welcoming to all students, staff and visitors. We believe that diversity enriches the academic community and contributes to the quality of research, teaching and the learning process.
The principle of equal opportunities is embedded in the University of Ljubljana’s key strategic documents, particularly the UL Strategy 2022–2027 and the Gender Equality Plan 2022–2027. The University also advances this commitment through a range of measures aimed at promoting equality and inclusion, including the work of the Equality and Inclusion Office and the Student Ombudsperson, as well as through the LGBT-Friendly certificate awarded by the City of Ljubljana. These initiatives further strengthen efforts to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all.
By displaying the rainbow flag, we emphasise the importance of equal opportunities, non-discrimination and respect for human rights. The University of Ljubljana remains committed to fostering dialogue, understanding and an inclusive university community.
