About the programme

The basic goals of the level Master’s program in Slovene Studies are furthering knowledge of different linguistic and literary theories and research methods, applying acquired knowledge, scholarly literature, and contemporary informational and communications sources in scientific analysis and description, as well as critical evaluation of the most complex contemporary or older texts in different genres and sub-genres. Individuals in the Master’s program are able to reference contemporary and past scholarly discoveries about language and literature and logically employ them.

Individuals are able to effectively express such scientific preparedness and related scientific knowledge in oral and written publicistic, popular scientific, or scientific texts and thus successfully shape literary and more broadly cultural events and linguistic policy, and influence a positive attitude on the part of the general public towards language, literature, and culture.

Having completed a Master’s degree, individuals are prepared to work on the planning, execution, and direction of research related to Slovene language, literature, or culture, and to independently, innovatively, and on the own initiative solve problems in these spheres. They are prepared to assume very demanding projects in research work, the publishing industry, print and electronic media, and cultural institutions. The program also prepares them for independent and creative project planning in offices, government, and other institutions that deal with representing and promoting Slovene language and literature in-country or internationally, in the media and in tourism.

The candidates have to provide evidence of Slovenian language skills proficiency at level B2 of Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
