About the programme

The master study programme Social work with older people is based on modern concepts of social work and introduces to students current demographic trends and their impact on societal attitudes towards aging and old age.

The goals of the programme are: to introduce students to an in-depth and independent study of social work with older people, train them for work with older people in community and institutions and enable them to provide counselling services to all generations that are entering the aging process.

Students learn about contemporary theoretical concepts and practices within social work with older people and their application to concrete, practical work. They also learn to work with people with dementia and people who need long-term care at home or in institutions for older people. Post-graduates are trained to recognize, analyse, seek solutions and develop innovative approaches in solving older people’s problems in a manner specific to social work.
