About the programme
The single cycle master study programme Veterinary medicine primarily addresses those who would like to work with companion animals, control production of animal diseases - typically in veterinary services (e.g. swine, cattle, poultry, fish, fur animals), work in the food processing industry, pharmaceutical industry or veterinary institutions involved in research and disease control.
The candidate’s state of health must allow carrying out practical field work. The candidates are expected to express liking for gaining field experience, independent and psychologically compliant communication skills.
Systematic teaching (lectures, practical work, seminars) takes 30-hour per week (classes), 30 weeks per year. In the final year, students primarily choose elective subjects and perform clinical practice (intramural rotation) and clinical training (extramural rotation).
The date of passing the exam in the subject of Forensic and State Veterinary Medicine is the date of graduation. The European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) granted the University of Ljubljana Veterinary faculty status: approved.
