The fundamental task of the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana (UL VF) is to provide high-quality veterinary medicine education at all levels of higher education, which is comparable in the European area. In accordance with higher education and veterinary legislation, UL VF has been monitoring the development of science and the profession for over 50 years to ensure that its undergraduate and postgraduate students are kept up to date with the latest scientific findings and professional achievements in veterinary medicine at home and abroad.

The activities of the Faculty are focused on teaching, scientific research and professional operational work. Scientific research work is the basis for the quality work of teaching staff and collaborators, and the UL VF ensures that such work is carried out at the highest level in cooperation with domestic and foreign established, high-quality research institutions. The professional operational work, which is mainly carried out at the National Veterinary Institute, provides students with an additional opportunity for practical training during their studies.

The aim of the Faculty is to provide students and the wider social environment with tested and verified teaching and research programmes, and to deliver reliable results to our clients, which is confirmed by the accreditation we have obtained in accordance with ISO 17025. In 2021, the Faculty obtained accreditation and the status of a full member (Full Member) of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), with a positive evaluation also confirmed by the European Committee of Veterinary Education (ECOVE), which gives the Faculty international prestige and recognition and places it alongside other elite veterinary faculties in Europe.
