Stories of our entrepreneurial alumni
Two food enthusiasts from the Biotechnical Faculty UL set out to revolutionize the way we consume food. Their journey began with creating Slovenia's first vegan burger, but they quickly realized that true innovation was needed to stand out among industry giants. Driven by ambition, they developed the world's best vegan steak and, with an expanded team, headed to the prestigious Y Combinator in the United States, securing significant investment. Today, based in Domžale, they produce the world's finest vegan meat, available on the shelves of the most prestigious stores worldwide.
The concept of a platform connecting brands of all sizes with the perfect influencers was conceived at the UL School of Economics and Business startup weekend, right at the dawn of influencer marketing. The idea showed great promise, and the business thrived—so much so that even a professor decided to invest. As the company continues to grow, the market evolves, with brands seeking more than just photos and videos; they now demand comprehensive promotional solutions. Leveraging vast amounts of data flowing through the platform, AI-driven promotional campaigns have become a reality. One standout example of this innovation is Influee.
How do you achieve sales of over €10 million in just five years? Start at the UL School of Economics and Business startup weekend. Head to the city center of Ljubljana and ask a well-known cosmetics company for some jars (one day, you'll be their toughest competitor). Fill those jars with the best-smelling self-tanning cream, then return to the city center and start selling. After the Startup Weekend in March, focus on marketing, and by summer, you'll have sold 2,500 creams in your first year. In the second year, you'll sell 30,000. From there, continue doubling your sales each year. Simple.
