Day of the Arts

The Day of the Arts is a collaborative artistic event that was first organized at the University of Ljubljana in 2023. It was initiated as an opportunity to present the diversity of artistic creation across the University of Ljubljana and to provide a space for connecting different art academies and fields of study. It highlights the diversity of artistic practices developed within the university and promotes their visibility in the wider public sphere.
The event brings together students and mentors from different fields of the arts, who contribute to the programme through their work and open up a dialogue on contemporary art and its role in society. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and interdisciplinary connections among artists and creators.
The Day of the Arts at the University of Ljubljana is designed as an open and accessible event that brings art into the public space and makes it more accessible to the wider community. In doing so, the University of Ljubljana emphasizes the importance of art as an integral part of the academic environment and its role in fostering broader social reflection.
Through the Day of the Arts at the University of Ljubljana, we seek to highlight the fact that art is an integral part of the social fabric and that adequate funding for artistic and cultural activities is therefore essential to an active and well-functioning society. At the same time, this role of art requires those of us working in the cultural sector (as well as students entering the field) to understand this responsibility and actively fulfil it.
Bor Ravbar, Director of the first edition of the UL Day of the Arts in 2023 and a student of Theatre Directing at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television UL
