Faculty of Theology

The Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana (UL TEOF), which has its roots in medieval monastic and cathedral schools and its most distinguished place in the first universities, is one of the five founding faculties of the University of Ljubljana. As in its beginnings, on the threshold of the third millennium, the UL TEOF, with constant concern for the quality of its teaching and research work, wishes to develop its discourse on God and man, on God's incarnation and man's deification, on creation and man's intervention in it, on the beginnings of everything and on the ultimate meaning, on the Church and life in it, on the family and on interpersonal relations in general.

Drawing on Scripture and Tradition, and taking into account the range of human thought, it aims to equip its students for critical reflection and profound meditation on the themes of transcendence and the here and now, faith and revelation, canon law, morality and education. At the same time, it aims to offer skills that help the modern person to a healthy and integral self-image, inner contentment and creativity.

As a Catholic faculty, in fidelity to the cultural circle from which it springs, it follows the authority of the Church's teaching and the consistency of scholarship, and is therefore concerned with the intellectual preparation of candidates for service in the Church and in society at large, especially where a commitment to the dignity of the human person in its full dimension is required.
