Assistant Professor Svit Komel first Slovenian recipient of the Bader Prize
Assistant Professor Svit Komel of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana is the first Slovenian to receive the prestigious Bader Prize of the Austrian Academy of Sciences for the best work by early-career researchers in the field of the history of science. He received the award for his doctoral dissertation Rule and Measure: A History of Juridical Practices in the Age of Surveys.

University of Ljubljana at ZOTKS Talents 2026: Talent needs opportunity. The University of Ljubljana creates opportunities.
On Saturday, 6 June 2026, the University of Ljubljana (UL) joined forces with the country's best young competitors, their parents, and mentors at the ZOTKS Talents 2026 event held at Cankarjev Dom. The event, organised by the Association for Technical Culture of Slovenia (ZOTKS), is dedicated to young people who have excelled in national knowledge competitions and the young researchers' meeting. This year, it brought together more than 1,300 primary and secondary school pupils, their parents, mentors and other guests.

International spring school on the Environment and Sustainable Development brings together students and experts in Ljubljana
The international spring school entitled Environment and Sustainable Development took place at the UL Faculty of Education between 20 and 24 April 2026 as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP). The event was organised by the UNESCO Chair on Teacher Education for Sustainable Development in cooperation with the University of Klagenfurt, Private University College of Teacher Education Augustinum in Graz, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

First application round confirms considerable interest in studying at the University of Ljubljana
By the end of the first round of applications for candidates from Slovenia and EU Member States, the University of Ljubljana’s Higher Education Enrolment and Information Service had received a total of 9,824 applications for 9,569 places for undergraduate and integrated master’s degree programmes. Of this number, 9,657 were for full-time and 167 for part-time study.

Honorary titles of Professor Emerita and Professor Emeritus awarded at the University of Ljubljana
As part of University Week, the University of Ljubljana awarded the titles of Professor Emerita and Professor Emeritus. These titles are conferred on retired teachers of the University in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of science or the arts, as well as for their dedicated teaching and mentoring work. This year, the titles were awarded to 14 retired teachers.

Opening of additional study spaces during the exam period
During the exam period, students will also be able to prepare for their exams on weekends in the study rooms of the UL Faculty of Arts, the UL School of Economics and Business and the UL Faculty of Law. The rooms will be available to all students between 18 May and 29 June 2025.

Ethical Artificial Intelligence for Access to Justice
In the past decade, and especially with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, online dispute resolution (ODR) systems have grown rapidly, particularly in resolving consumer disputes arising from the e-commerce sector. These systems offer a cost-effective, faster, and convenient alternative to traditional court proceedings. However, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into ODR has raised significant ethical concerns, particularly around accessibility, accountability, and fairness.

Third consecutive win for UL PF at international student EU law moot court competition
Faculty of Law University of Ljubljana team won the Central and Eastern Europe Moot Competition (CEEMC), which took place in Prague from April 26 to 28. The competition is organised by the British Law Centre of Juris Angliae Scientia Ltd, and held under the auspices of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Centre for European Legal Studies of the University of Cambridge. Teams from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana have been successfully participating in the competition for over 20 years now, with this year's triumph marking the third consecutive win.
