Slovenian and EU citizens
This category includes:
- citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and EU Member States,
- citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland,
- citizens of non-EU Member States with permanent residence in Slovenia who are, at the start of the selection procedure, residents of the Republic of Slovenia for tax purposes, or whose parents/guardians are residents of the Republic of Slovenia for tax purposes,
- citizens of non-EU Member States who have completed their secondary education in the Republic of Slovenia and passed the matura examination (this does not apply to persons who have completed international secondary school education in the Republic of Slovenia and who are required to follow the procedure for the recognition of foreign secondary education),
- persons granted international/temporary protection status and applicants for international/temporary protection who have been granted this status by the start of the selection procedure.
Slovenians abroad
Slovenes in neighbouring countries and around the world, regardless of whether they hold Slovenian citizenship or not, are:
- Slovenians living abroad who are members of the ethnic Slovenian community in all four neighbouring countries - Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary;
- Slovenians around the world and descendants of persons of Slovenian ethnicity up to the third generation in a direct line (expatriates and emigrants living in neighbouring countries outside the area defined as the Slovenian cross-border area and in other European and non-European countries).

Candidates with special needs and candidates with special status
The decision to grant special needs status or special status to applicants in the first and second application periods of the admission process is made by the Committee for Granting Special Status to Applicants in the Admission Process at the University of Ljubljana. Decisions are based on the Rules on Granting Special Needs Status and Special Status to Applicants in the Admission Process for Undergraduate and Single Cycle Master’s Degree Programmes at the University of Ljubljana.
In the electronic application for enrolment, the applicants must indicate that they wish to claim special needs status or special status. The application must be accompanied by the relevant supporting documents electronically, no later than the deadline specified in the Call for Enrolment.
