Application
Application deadlines:
- 15 May: For the winter semester or the full academic year
- 15 November: For the summer semester
Nomination by your home university
Erasmus+ students
Your home university must nominate you to the Office of International Relations at the University of Ljubljana. Nominations should be sent to intern.office@uni-lj.si.
Other exchange students
Your home university should nominate you to the international office of the respective faculty at the University of Ljubljana.
Online application submission
Once your home university has successfully nominated you as an exchange student, you are required to complete the online application. There is no need to submit a physical (paper) copy of the application.
At the end of the online application process, you will be prompted to upload the following documents:
- Transcript of records from your home university,
- Online learning agreement,
- Language certificate.
Note: Your application will only be processed once all required steps have been completed and the necessary documents have been uploaded.
Acceptance and further information
After your application is reviewed and approved by your host department, you will receive:
- A formal acceptance letter,
- Detailed information about living and studying in Ljubljana.
Language requirements
The University of Ljubljana offers instruction in Slovenian and English. To study here, students must demonstrate very good language skills (proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking) in at least one of these languages.
Fluent language skills in Slovenian or English are essential for academic success. If the required language proficiency is not met, the University of Ljubljana will not accept the application.
Required Language Proficiency
Students must provide proof of language skills equivalent to level B2 on the CEFR scale of the European Language Portfolio.
How to Prove Language Proficiency in Slovenian or English?
Students can demonstrate their language proficiency through one of the following:
- A statement of language skills included in the Transcript of Records from the home university.
- A Language Certificate that references the CEFR scale.
- A TOEFL score of 79 (IBT) or an IELTS score of 6 for English.
- Results from the OLS (Online Language Support) platform.
- Any other official language certificate.

Students can select courses exclusively from the list of courses offered by the academy or faculty to which they were nominated - Academy of Music, Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Biotechnical Faculty, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Public Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Social Work, Faculty of Sport, Faculty of Theology, School of Economics and Business, Veterinary Faculty.
