Dr Jernej Ule obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Ljubljana under the supervision of Ana Plemenitaš, before completing his PhD with Robert Darnell at Rockefeller University in New York, where he also conducted his postdoctoral research. In 2006, he moved to Cambridge to establish his own research group at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. In 2013, he became a professor at University College London. In 2016, he relocated his group to the Francis Crick Institute, and in April 2022, he assumed leadership of the UK Dementia Research Institute at King’s College London. He also collaborates with researchers at the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana.

Dr Ule is a ASEF mentor (American Slovenian Education Foundation) and a member of the advisory board of the VTIS Association (Slovenians Educated Abroad), where he recently shared his perspective on the importance of knowledge circulation.

Dr Jernej Ule warmly welcomes students from the University of Ljubljana to join research placements at the UK Dementia Research Institute at King’s College London.

Relevant academic fields at the University of Ljubljana include the Faculty of Medicine, the Biotechnical Faculty, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
