Opis gostovanja

Dr Dida Markovič is an astrophysicist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Caltech, in Pasadena, USA, where she holds a permanent position and contributes to the international Euclid and Roman missions, as well as other projects related to the dark sector of the universe.

She earned her PhD in Astrophysics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, within the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, where she studied how to detect relic thermal velocities of dark matter from the early universe. Prior to that, she completed the Part III programme in Applied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and obtained a master’s degree in Astrophysics from University College London.

Her research focuses on the nature of dark matter and dark energy, in particular the use of redshift-space distortions in galaxy clustering as a tool to test general relativity, and the application of spectroscopic surveys to forecast cosmological parameters.

Dr Markovič welcomes motivated master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral students interested in the research areas listed above. She is also open to collaborative research projects with researchers at the University of Ljubljana.
