About the programme

Graduates of the undergraduate academic bachelor study programme Geology obtain fundamental knowledge from all fields of geology. They also get a solid base in elementary natural sciences and mathematics. Students obtain basic knowledge from scientific areas related to geology and required for practical geological work and interaction with related areas of expertise.

With select elective subjects students further extend their knowledge in the areas of interest, targeting specific narrower topics in geology. During the study, students will get familiar with traditional principles, and upgrade them with the latest discoveries; all this in a modern educational environment and using modern technology.

Special attention is paid to practical training, especially field work. By working in groups, undertaking project work and solving problems, students will learn to work in teams, give public talks and manage the projects. Students will test thetheoretical knowledge by exercises concerning real-life scenarios; this will facilitate thetransition to the practical work after the finished studies.

At the same time, students will learn a sufficient amount of engineering contents, which enable development of abstract thinking, and to successfully continue their studies in different second-level programs.
