Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering of the University of Ljubljana (UL NTF) has expanded its traditional offer of study programmes in geology, mining, metallurgy and textiles to include geotechnology, materials, graphic and interactive communications, and textile and clothing design. These fields, individually and especially in combination, are the cornerstones of developed societies and countries, offering comprehensive knowledge in science, technology, information and communication and art and design at three levels of education.

Through individual choice of curricula within individual departments, the faculty as a whole, and also in conjunction with other faculties, the core professional knowledge can be supported by optional economic, marketing and management content. In addition to the theoretical professional and scientific and artistic basics, the work with students is also oriented towards practical research and creative project work, which is facilitated by laboratories, workshops and computer facilities. Educational approaches foster innovation, creative thinking and teamwork, giving graduates flexibility in employment and teamwork, entrepreneurship and leadership skills. The Faculty of Science and Technology is made up of five departments: the Department of Geology, the Department of Geotechnology and Mining, the Department of Chemical Education and Informatics, the Department of Materials and Metallurgy and the Department of Textiles.

The work of the Departments is supported by the Infrastructure Centres of the Textiles and Materials and Metallurgy Departments and by the libraries of each Department.
