Employment of Slovenian researchers from abroad
The purpose of the internal call for proposals of the University of Ljubljana Development Fund (RSUL) is to promote the reintegration of outstanding Slovenian researchers working abroad. Through the call, the University of Ljubljana aims to strengthen both knowledge and skills, as well as international involvement in the field of scientific research.
The subject of the call is the co-financing of the employment of a Slovenian researcher who has been working abroad for an extended period of time. The employment is foreseen in a research position (one research project is to be selected).
The application is to be submitted by a member of the University of Ljubljana (academy or faculty). The deadline for applications this year was 8 May 2025.

Appointment to the titles
Procedures for appointment to a faculty rank are conducted by University of Ljubljana member institutions (academies, faculties) in accordance with the Criteria for Appointment to the Titles of University Teachers, Researchers and Associates at the University of Ljubljana.
- A candidate begins the procedure by submitting an application for election to a title at a member of the University of Ljubljana, following the instructions for implementing the criteria.
- Since 1 October 2020, the procedure has been free of charge, but it is carried out only if there is a demonstrated interest in participating at the University of Ljubljana.
- When applying for a vacant post where appointment to the title is a prerequisite, no prior application for election to a title is required. Instead, candidates must submit proof of eligibility and a declaration of consent for the application to be considered as an application for election to a title.
The University of Ljubljana also offers the possibility of appointing visiting professors and researchers through a shorter procedure (approximately two months). A visiting title may be awarded to individuals who already hold a valid appointment or an equivalent position at a comparable institution. The appointment is valid for 12 months and may be extended for an additional 12 months.
