Co-financing of hosting

Every year, the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia publishes a call for proposals to co-finance hosting visits of Slovenian experts from abroad at Slovenian higher education institutions and research organisations, as well as study or scientific visits of students abroad.

The purpose of the call is to promote the networking of Slovenian experts working abroad and to connect their home organisations with Slovenian higher education institutions (the applicant is the University of Ljubljana). The call provides for the co-financing of one- to twelve-month teaching and/or research visits to Slovenian higher education institutions or research organisations. The funding can be used upon prior agreement with the relevant member of the University of Ljubljana. Please get in touch with the contact person at the member faculty to make arrangements.

A call has also been published for the co‑financing of study or research visits abroad for students who wish to work with Slovenian higher education teachers or researchers active at accredited educational institutions or research organisations abroad. More information is available here.

The deadline for applications is until the funds are exhausted or until 30 September 2026 at the latest.

Collaboration within the internal calls of the University of Ljubljana

Internal Call for Proposals for Seminars for Bachelor’s and Master’s Students (2026–2028)

The call invites the organisation of seminars in cooperation with members of the University of Ljubljana Global Network (SMUL), Slovenian higher education teachers and researchers working at universities and institutions abroad, as well as higher education teachers and researchers from universities that are members of the Rectors’ Forum of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans. The purpose of the call is to encourage and strengthen cooperation, networking, and international engagement. We invite you to take this opportunity and, together with UL members (academies/faculties), design seminars that will offer our students access to diverse expertise and rich international experience. Application deadline: 15 April 2026.

Internal Call of the UL Development Fund (RSUL) for Research Projects of Slovenian Researchers Abroad in Cooperation with Students of the University of Ljubljana

The purpose of this call is to co‑finance short research projects carried out by Slovenian researchers working abroad, in cooperation with students of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd cycle at the University of Ljubljana. The call has three internal submission deadlines: 13 February 2026, 30 March 2026, and 15 May 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

Internal Call of the UL Development Fund (RSUL) for the Employment of Slovenian Researchers from Abroad

The aim of this call is to support the reintegration of excellent and experienced Slovenian researchers working abroad. The call co‑finances the employment of a Slovenian researcher who has been working abroad for an extended period, in a research position at the University of Ljubljana. The application deadline is 30 March 2026, and the call foresees the selection of one research project.

If you are interested in applying, the application must be submitted by a UL member institution (academy or faculty). If you would like to participate, please contact the SMUL representative at the selected UL member.

As part of "Science for all - presentations of achievements by SMUL members", SMUL members or members of their research groups present the results of their achievements and research, share their experiences and address current social issues. We also invite you to take part.
