University Week 2024

The week from 2 to 6 December 2024 will be University Week at the University of Ljubljana – a now traditional week of events organised to mark the anniversary of the start of teaching at Slovenia’s oldest established university. This year’s 105th anniversary will be marked by the presentation of awards honouring outstanding research achievements, the conferral of honorary titles and the presentation of plaques and prizes to those who make the University of Ljubljana a better university every year.
University Week will commence with a presentation of the most outstanding research achievements at the University of Ljubljana in 2024 and a short concert by the Tone Tomšič Academic Choir.
This will be followed on Tuesday by a formal sitting of the Senate of the University of Ljubljana that will conclude with the conferral of the titles of Doctor Honoris Causa and Senator Honoris Causa and the presentation of gold plaques to individuals and groups. Teaching staff and other staff will also receive gold plaques.
On Wednesday, the University of Ljubljana will present certificates of distinction for academic achievement and commendations for extracurricular achievements and activities.
On Thursday, commendations will be awarded to associates and titles of Professor Emeritus/Emerita will be conferred at a formal ceremony.
University Week will end with the ceremonial presentation of this year’s Student Prešeren Prizes.
