Before you finally decide on a particular course of study or profession, you need to find out what you are interested in, what you are good at and what you are bad at. The best way to do this is to try to get to know yourself, your skills and characteristics, your interests, values and motivations, what you value and what you want to achieve in your daily life and at work. Values influence what motivates you and what makes you happy at work.

At all faculties and academies of the University of Ljubljana, career counsellors are available to UL students for a free one-on-one interview to identify your qualities, strengths, skills and competencies. Counselling sessions take place in person or remotely.

At our discretion, career counselling also includes the Holland's interest inventory SDA - Career Search, which allows you to find out which types of interests you have most in common and what this means for you in the context of your career search. If you are curious about which interest type you belong to and would like to get to know yourself better, please contact your career counsellor.

Another good opportunity to get to know each other better is the Selection Process Simulation event, which we organise every spring together with the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Arts UL. First, you will solve some psychological questionnaires that are most commonly used by companies and organisations when selecting applicants, and then you will have the opportunity to try your hand at a simulated job interview. After the exercise, you will receive an evaluation of the psychological tests, which will give you a detailed insight into your qualities, as well as verbal and written feedback on the whole process.

We also offer workshops to strengthen your career management skills, which is also a good opportunity to get to know each other. The workshops often use a SWOT analysis as a starting point to identify and build on our strengths, identify and eliminate weaknesses, recognise and exploit opportunities and identify and avoid risks.

We recommend that you keep an eye on the events in the POPR portal.
