Digital literacy among educators and students
Through this project, we aim to enhance the existing support system for educators and students in the use of ICT, with a focus on promoting the development of digital knowledge, competences and skills.
Aim of the project
We will develop and enhance a range of support services and a dedicated team to facilitate the professional development and acquisition of knowledge in the field of digital skills, competences and abilities among teaching staff and students through the use of various ICT tools. We will establish model smart classrooms based on the thoughtful, safe and pedagogically sound use of ICT, enabling teachers to apply the knowledge they have acquired within their own subject areas. Through active involvement in the teaching process and by tackling model problem situations developed in collaboration with external experts, using ICT, students will be confronted with challenges similar to those they will encounter in their own professional careers. Both UL teaching staff and students will be involved in the assessment of digital competences at the start and end of the pilot project, with the aim of measuring progress in the development of digital competences and the effectiveness of the support system put in place. The project is closely linked to other University of Ljubljana pilot projects and will complement and support them in the area of ICT use in the teaching process.

Digital ULTRA Marathon for educators and students
At the Centre for the Use of ICT in the Educational Process, as part of the NOO ULTRA pilot project – ‘Educational Ecosystem for the Development of Digital Competences among Educators and Students in 2024’ – we are organising the Digital (Ultra) Marathon 1.0 for educators (DUM-P) and students (DUM-Š). Here, you will develop the skills, abilities and knowledge needed to use ICT, whilst building your resilience and joining us in overcoming the challenges of the educational ecosystem, where there is a constant circulation of energy and ‘nutrients’ amongst all living and non-living organisms.
An ultramarathon is a race covering distances longer than those of traditional marathons. These usually measure 42 km. Ultramarathons, however, cover distances ranging from 50 kilometres to several hundred kilometres and include a variety of terrains, such as roads, forest trails, mountain hikes, desert runs and other demanding routes, and can last 24 or 48 hours, or even several days.
Whilst marathons are popular with recreational runners, ultra-marathons are aimed at those seeking an even greater challenge and test of endurance. Competitors in ultra-marathons must develop exceptional endurance, mental fortitude and the ability to cope with physical and psychological challenges, as the races often take place in harsh weather conditions and over demanding terrain.
The University of Ljubljana also promotes the development of digital knowledge, competences and skills, which involve long-distance running across a variety of fields (according to DigCompEdu). Every (ultra)marathon runner, however, needs high-quality and well-planned training.
We value interpersonal relationships, community and interaction with the environment, which enable the sustainability of values and knowledge. We invite you to join us in clocking up digital kilometres, become digital (ultra)marathon runners and help us create a sustainable and, above all, renewable educational ecosystem. Below you will find the events we are organising as part of the digital ULTRA marathon.
* Suitable even for complete beginners. Every ultra-marathon runner was a beginner once.
