Study review
Anže Malovrh/STA
The University of Ljubljana is the largest and oldest university in Slovenia and is one of the top 3% of universities in the world. This academic year, more than 37,000 students are studying at the University of Ljubljana - 3828 international students are studying at the University of Ljubljana, 1733 of them in bachelor’s and single-cycle master’s programmes, 1570 in master’s programmes and 525 in doctoral programmes.
Slovenia is a sustainable destination offering unique experiences that we are happy to share with you. It is a very diverse country in terms of geography, history, culture and language. During your studies, take time to discover this beautiful green country where the Alps meet the Mediterranean and the Pannonian Plain.
The University of Ljubljana’s 23 faculties and 3 art academies offer degree programmes in social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, medicine, technical fields, the arts and sports, which are designed in line with the Bologna Process guidelines. It is increasingly rare for a university to offer programmes in all disciplines, even on a global scale. Our aim is to ensure that our students use the knowledge and skills they have gained in the best possible way. During their studies, students can participate in various projects and become part of a diverse international community of professors and students.
Students in Slovenia enjoy a number of advantages compared to other countries. Students have subsidised food and transport and may perform student work. At the beginning of the academic year, we organise a welcome day for international students, where you can get first-hand information about studying at the University of Ljubljana and about life in Ljubljana and Slovenia. We also provide international student ambassadors, tutors and a variety of support activities so that you can better adjust to university life and the new environment.
