Prof. Marko Anderluh from the UL FFA awarded a prestigious MSCA Doctoral Network project
Prof. Marko Anderluh from the Faculty of Pharmacy UL is coordinating a prestigious European MSCA Doctoral Network project that received €4.3 million in funding from the Horizon Europe framework programme. Within the LLIMIT project, partners and doctoral students will develop innovative therapeutic agents to precisely modulate the immune system by targeting lectins.

First application round confirms considerable interest in studying at the University of Ljubljana
By the end of the first round of applications for candidates from Slovenia and EU Member States, the University of Ljubljana’s Higher Education Enrolment and Information Service had received a total of 9,824 applications for 9,569 places for undergraduate and integrated master’s degree programmes. Of this number, 9,657 were for full-time and 167 for part-time study.

Amina Gačo Jež of the UL Biotechnical Faculty wins science slam
This year’s Food for the Brain Festival concluded at Kino Šiška on 26 March 2026 with the science slam event “(Algo)rhythm of the Planet”. At the event, researchers presented a range of digital solutions for a sustainable future in an engaging and entertaining way. The jury and the audience were most impressed by Amina Gačo Jež of the UL Biotechnical Faculty.

Honorary titles of Professor Emerita and Professor Emeritus awarded at the University of Ljubljana
As part of University Week, the University of Ljubljana awarded the titles of Professor Emerita and Professor Emeritus. These titles are conferred on retired teachers of the University in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of science or the arts, as well as for their dedicated teaching and mentoring work. This year, the titles were awarded to 14 retired teachers.

University of Ljubljana receives funding for the new Faculty of Pharmacy building
The University of Ljubljana has signed a funding agreement for the new UL Faculty of Pharmacy building, which will be integrated into the university’s Brdo campus. This important step signals the realisation of the university’s long-term vision of having state-of-the-art, functional and technologically advanced infrastructure capable of fostering high-quality educational, research and technical activities in the pharmacy field.

The recipients of the highest national prizes and awards in the field of science for 2025 have been announced
The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Igor Papič, and the President of the Committee of the Republic of Slovenia for the Awarding of Prizes and Awards for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research and Development, Prof. Dr Nataša Vaupotič, have announced this year’s recipients of the highest national prizes and awards in the field of science. The recipients include several scientists from the University of Ljubljana.

Government provides funding for the new UL FFA building and the UL MF Vrazov Trg campus with new source of funding
At its session on 10 July 2025, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia approved the inclusion of the new building for the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana (UL FFA) in the Development Programmes Plan 2025–2028. The project is valued at EUR 133 million. At the same time, the Government also approved a new source of funding, amounting to EUR 17.6 million, for the Vrazov Trg campus of the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Medicine (UL MF).

Microreactors of the Future for Efficient Wastewater Treatment Using Hydroxyl Radicals
The issue of wastewater treatment is becoming increasingly pressing in modern society, which is also reflected in the intensive research in this field. Conventional treatment methods are struggling to keep up with the growing diversity of pollutants that end up in various water bodies – both surface and groundwater. As a result, significant efforts are being invested in developing new technological approaches to address this challenge, with cavitation emerging as one of the promising technologies.

Campus Center project: a solution to the space problems of faculties and a better quality of life in the city centre
The University of Ljubljana presented the Campus Center project, in which students of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ljubljana, under the mentorship of Prof. Jurij Sadar, Asst. Prof. Ana Kreč and researcher Jure Hrovat, carried out a spatial survey of the existing buildings with the project task of placing the UL member programme in the existing buildings of the University on Aškerčeva Street after the relocation of the UL Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the UL Faculty of Pharmacy to the new buildings.
