Activities

The Rectors' Forum of Southeast Forum and Western Balkans has established three working groups. The working groups help in the implementation of decisions taken by the Rectors’ Forum Assembly and the Secretariat, and initiate and prepare complex materials for the Rectors’ Forum Assembly in cooperation with the Secretariat.

The Rectors' Forum has three permanent working grops:

  1. Working Group on EDUCATION AND SCIENCE POLICIES ADVANCEMENTS in SEE

  2. Working Group on ADVANCEMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMMES in SEE

  3. Working Group on RESEARCH AND INNOVATION ADVANCEMENTS in SEE

The working groups are composed of experts from the members’ universities. Each university may not have more than one member in a working group. The number of members in each working group may vary depending on the topics considered by the working group. Each working group has its chair and is situated at the university where its chair is based.

The first group, dedicated to the development of education and science policies in Southeast Europe, is chaired by Dr Gazela Pudar Draško, Director of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade.

The second group, chaired by Prof. Marta Žuvić, Vice-Rector for Studies, Students and Quality Assurance at the University of Rijeka, focuses on the progress and development of higher education programmes in Southeast Europe.

The third group concentrates on progress in research and innovation, and is led by Prof. Maja Klun, Vice-Rector for Knowledge Transfer, Digitalisation and Sustainable Development at the University of Ljubljana.

The working groups have already drawn up two-year work plans, focusing on areas such as improving regional cooperation, supporting member universities in winning EU projects, promoting brain circulation, and boosting innovation in the member countries.

Center for Advanced Studies Southeast Europe (CAS SEE) is a regional hub for postodctoral research hosted by the University of Rijeka.

CAS SEE organizes a rich and multifaceted academic and public program both online and offline, throughout Europe and at the Renaissance palace Moise at the island of Cres.

CAS SEE also offers working and residential capacities at the palace Moise and is an example of good practice, one which takes care of the postdoctoral students that can share their research time between different universities in the Southeast Europe and Western Balkans region.

The vision
of the Center is to promote freedom of research and ensure the necessary prerequisites for innovative, intellectual, and scientific development. It strives to strengthen transnational and regional scientific cooperation on a range of socially pressing issues relevant to the Humanistic and Social Sciences and Arts.

CAS aims at:

  • Establishing opportunities for scholars worldwide to gather, discuss and produce high-end and streamlined research on southeast Europe and broader.
  • Contributing to a fuller acknowledgment of such scientific products by international academia and in scholarly journals.
  • Rebuilding and promoting professional collaboration and exchange between internationally renowned research centers and the region’s scientific community, Improving the quality of regional research by helping local young scholars to (re)connect to global scholarly trends, through providing them with support and infrastructure to conduct research projects (“brain gain” strategy).
