Faculty of Social Sciences
Faculty of Social Sciences (UL FDV) is the largest interdisciplinary, public educational and research institution in Slovenia. With its rich human resources, its own research institute, a central social sciences library and a publishing house, it develops a range of social sciences disciplines, the interplay of which represents an optimal synergy of modern social sciences knowledge.
Its "differentiating feature" is the variety of Bologna degree programmes, which are open and based on the interplay of knowledge and insights from all the core social science disciplines. This web is complemented by a large proportion of electives, and organised internships prepare students at all levels in a broadly professional and thorough way for entry into the labour market.
The Faculty also has the advantage of both encouraging and facilitating students to study abroad. Drawing on the European Enlightenment tradition, the Faculty fosters a spirit of political and ideological independence, respect for all differences, autonomy and informal relations with students. In this way, it co-educates free-thinking, critical, creative, communicative and enterprising young educators, whose actions make a significant contribution to the progress of Slovenian society, and whose knowledge enriches the universal nature of human knowledge, while at the same time preserving different value systems and cultural identities.
