Application deadline: April 14
A PhD position is available in the group of Prof. Zanghellini (https://chemnet.univie.ac.at/) at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, starting in the spring of 2024 or later. In this project, the successful PhD candidate will pioneer the development of AI-based tools for optimizing biotechnological production processes. Leveraging time course data enhanced with AI technology, the candidate will create precise bioprocess models through parameterization and characterization. These models will subsequently be employed to predict and implement optimal process designs.
What you will do specifically
- Apply Statistical Methods: utilize statistical methods to analyze high-dimensional datasets associated with bioprocesses
- Implement AI-Based Tools: develop and implement AI-based tools for the characterization of bioprocesses
- Integration into Optimization Workflows: integrate developed process models into existing optimization workflows, enhancing their performance
- Predict Optimal Process Designs: utilize the integrated models to predict optimal process designs for biotechnological production
- Collaborative Implementation: collaborate with experimentally working partners to implement the predicted optimal process designs
This is part of your personality
- Master of Science (Bio-)Data Science / Bioinformatics / Molecular Bio(techno)logy / Biochemistry / Informatics or similar
- Strong programming skills
- Experience in statistics and handling of multi-dimensional datasets
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries is a plus
- An additional advantage with experience in metabolic modeling
